Ericsson has an end-to-end vision of policy across domains, and an architecture driving its implementation called “COMPA” – Control, Orchestration, Management, Policy, Analytics. Specific solutions are available or being developed for NFV, SDN/Chaining, 3GPP/PCC, VoLTE/Wifi and others. COMPA, by its very nature, assumes and supports the existence of feedback loops, which may be manual, automated, or both. At this time, Ericsson GA solutions typically do not implement closed loops. In Ericsson’s implementation approach, “PDPs” and “PEPs” are typically delivered as part of complete domain solutions. That said, SAPC is tasked with driving subscriber/service-aware policies across MBB, FBB, SDN, VoLTE/Wifi, and chaining. Note that it may communicate with lower level rules/policy devices within domains such as SDN (Controllers) or MANO (Cloud Manager).
